NEW ALBUM ‘HANDED ON’, OUT FEB 14 2025

Dreamers’ Circus, the electrifying and boundary-pushing trio that has redefined contemporary Nordic music, is set to release their highly anticipated new album, Handed On, on February 14, 2025. This deeply personal project sees the group reconnecting with the heart of their musical heritage, capturing the raw, living tradition of Nordic folk and infusing it with their signature innovation and artistry. To celebrate, the trio will embark on a dynamic U.S. tour, bringing their spellbinding performances to audiences in cities including San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, and more. See below for a full list of cities and dates. Additional U.S. dates for fall 2025 will be announced in the coming weeks.

More than fifteen years ago, a serendipitous jam session at a small folk festival in Copenhagen sparked a musical journey that would take Dreamers’ Circus to the world stage. Since that fateful encounter, pianist and accordionist Nikolaj Busk, violinist Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen, and cittern player Ale Carr have become global ambassadors for Nordic roots music. From concert halls in Japan to festival stages across Europe and North America, they have enthralled audiences with their masterful musicianship, genre-defying compositions, and boundless creative spirit.

Throughout their career, Dreamers’ Circus has drawn from the deep well of Nordic folk traditions while fearlessly expanding its possibilities. But with Handed On, they return to the essence of their sound—music passed down through generations, shaped by time, memory, and community. The album finds its origins in the enforced quiet of the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that led the trio to compose and compile 58 original tunes into a landmark tune book titled Handed On. Published in both book and digital formats (available at handedon.com), the collection became a touchstone for their creative process, a bridge between past and future.

For the album, Dreamers’ Circus carefully selected some of the most evocative tunes from the book and headed into Copenhagen’s Farvemøllen Studios with acclaimed producer Kristian Leth. Their goal: to capture the raw energy and deep connection that have always been at the heart of Nordic folk music. The result is a vibrant, soul-stirring record that celebrates the traditions of oral transmission, communal storytelling, and the ever-evolving nature of folk music itself.

Handed On is more than just an album—it is a testament to the enduring power of tradition and the spirit of reinvention. Listen closely, and you will hear not only the echoes of the past but the pulse of something vital and new.
